Tickets can be purchased at the venue by the entrance of the pool. Please note that tickets will not be sold in advance.

Time zone

The time zone applicable in Hungary is the UTC+1 (or GMT+1). Hungary is in the Central European Time Zone. During the EJSC 2015 the Daylight Saving Time regulation is applicable.

Weather and climate

Hungary’s climate can be described as typical European continental climate with warm, dry summers and fairly cold winters. Currency

The only official currency in Hungary is the Forint (abbreviated Ft or HUF). Euros may be accepted at some places but we highly recommend exchanging Hungarian Forint.

Credit cards

Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Hungary. Please be aware that personal PIN number may be required.

Money exchange

Money can be exchanged to the local currency at the airport but also possible in Hódmezővásárhely. There are two exchange offices in the city: one in Tesco (Exclusive Change – Hódtó u. 17.) and one next to Interspar (Kaszap u. 20.). It is also possible to exchange money at banks.

Banks, ATM

There are several banks in the inner city. Most of them exchange money. Their opening hours are different (mostly from 9:00 to 15:00) but ATM machines are available 24 hours.

Electricity in Hungary is supplied at 220–240 Volts.

Tap water

Hungary has an excellent public water supply and distribution network. Tap water is safe to drink.

Internet access is available at most major hotels. In some restaurants and cafés wi-fi is also available.

The main post office is in the center of Hódmezővásárhely, at Kossuth square (Hódi Pál u. 2.)
Opening time: Monday to Friday: 8:00-19:00, Saturday: 8:00-12:00, Sunday closed.
Smaller post offices can be found throughout the city of Hódmezővásárhely.

Shopping

General opening hours of smaller shops:
Mon-Fri: 8:00-18:00, Sat-Sun: 8:00-12:00.
Opening hours of supermarkets are usually from early morning until evening. A few little shops are open 24 hours a day.
Please note that tobacco products are only sold at designated shops in Hungary.

Restaurants and bars

Most restaurants in Hungary are open from late morning until late evening and often even later at the weekend.
Bars close at around 2 am or often later. Alcohol is only allowed to be sold to people over eighteen.

By plane

How to get there

Liszt Ferenc Airport Budapest is about 180 km from Hódmezővásárhely. Shuttle bus service is available, for more information please check the website of Budapest Airport www.bud.hu
If you would like to continue your trip by train, you must take a local bus to Ferihegy 1 terminal where you can get on the train.

By car

From the direction of Budapest you need to take the M5 highway (toll must be paid), exit at nr.159 and take the road M43, than continue your way on road 47 to Hódmezővásárhely.

By train

Hódmezővásárhely can be reached by train in about two and a half hours. From Budapest you must take a train to Szeged. Trains leave every hour. In Szeged you have to change and take the train to Hódmezővásárhely (line is going to Békéscsaba).
In Hódmezővásárhely there are two train stations. The inner city can be reached easily from either one.
